Made it to the Pacific!! (25th to 30th
April)
On Saturday, 25th April we started in Palm
Springs towards Frazier Park where Wayne and Patti live. We met them at Sea Rim
State Park in TX a month ago. We were not sure if their invitation was meant
for good, or just a polite invitation which happens a lot in the US. We did a nice scenic drive through the mountain ridge and were welcomed as
if we knew each other for years! They had moved about a year ago from Los
Angeles just 80 miles (140km) north – from the city to the countryside... very remote – and
are renovating their house. In between they do what they love – travelling
around the US.
Back to the scenic drive. Even though we were caught by bad
weather and had head wind which felt like a hurricane, on top we had to go uphill which Blacky thanked us with fuel consumption like a tank.30 miles west of Palm Springs the
wind calmed down luckily … no wonder they have so many windmills around Palm
Springs.
We had a really good time with Wayne and Patti, cooked some awesome BBQ
and had some drinks and something good to smoke :) . Next day, on Sunday 26th we went to an
old German settlement (Scheideck) on a creek which has a nice campground, even you can see
the bank and black smith house from over 100 years ago. We had lunch and drinks at the local biker bar and went back to the ranch, relaxed and enjoyed the
sun.

On Monday 27th April we packed up and went west and after a scenic
drive we got to the Pacific! Our first milestone was reached. Nearly 5000 miles
(8000 km) since we left VA only 8 weeks ago. We were lucky because the weather
was so nice for this area and time of the year. We went to the only beach you
can drive on in California http://www.axs.com/best-rv-and-state-park-campgrounds-in-pismo-beach-10850
, you even can camp there…. Like in the movies. It was awesome … maybe a bit chilly
if the sun was not out, but still soooooooooooooo nice and we were able to practice driving in the sand !!

No 4WD no fun...
On Wednesday, 29th we continued north on the beach to Morro Bay with the well known Morro Rock (a volcanic rock from about 20 million years ago) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morro_Rock
We enjoyed a nice beach day and found a good spot a bit
inlet, so the chilly winds would not blow so hard at http://www.baypinesrv.com/ . We enjoyed
their hot tub and had a good German dinner (stuffed peppers) Roberts wish
for his “name day” ( not celebrated in the US or Germany )
These squirrels were fearless and demanded nuts :)
The seagulls had their own method to get food, Give me or I shit on car :)
On Thursday, 30th we continued north on the
Pacific Ocean and made stops, most important at the Seal Elephant beach north
of Cambria. It was so amazing how many animals where at the beach… it was
stunning (a bit stinky as well). On the way east to the Sequoia National Park https://www.nationalparkreservations.com/park/sequoiakingscanyon-national-park/?gclid=CjwKEAjwpYeqBRDOwq2DrLCB-UcSJAASIYLjBlqxc-pF7_t9HzcafaLP_z4obZx0jbtnp5cfgy5XORoCw5bw_wcB
we stopped in Paso Robles for the night in a beautiful RV park http://www.sunrvresorts.com/Community/vin
and enjoyed again a night in the hot tub.
